About The Sport of Team Racing

"Friends don't let friends finish last"

"Team Racing represents a complete paradigm shift from conventional sailboat racing. The name itself inherently tells the difference. Team Racing, in developing the team spirit, promotes cooperation among the teammates. Team Racing promotes and fosters working together toward a common goal. Unlike fleet racing where boats are pitted against all others on the race course, Team Racing relies on teammates working together. The team aspect encourages teammates to assist each other, pool knowledge, and practice. Team Racing is composed of three important elements;

1. Boat handling
2. Understanding the tactics and strategy
3. Teamwork

Individual sports, like fleet racing, rely on the reality that it is you, and only you, against your opponents. In Team Racing however, it is the concerted quest for a common goal that makes the satisfaction within the sport so much more rewarding for all team members. The team aspect involves both reliance and cooperation so that the team may work toward a common goal. Because the combinations change so often in the team race, it is usually very exciting from start to finish. In Team Racing, you achieve your strategy by assisting teammates. This seems to be the opposite end of the spectrum than the individual focus of fleet racing. The majority of the team must finish ahead of the majority of the other team."
